    Default Courier to Dovecot

I wonder if my current setup maildir - courier and I want to convert to dovecot will all emails be downloaded again in outlook?
Many users keep copies of email in the server.

I would also like to know that...

btw, is there a significant reason why we should change to dovecot?

lower memory usage of course. I have a lot of business customers using imap protocol and eating up a lot of memory.

my question would be how well does dovecot work with quotas and large amounts of email in comparison to courier? i have a 32bit OS installed on my server right now and that limits the courier install for some reason to no quota larger than 2047 MB without things going haywire. i would love to see if dovecot handles larger quotas in a more graceful way... anyone using dovecot yet?

That particular issue is due to a bug/design flaw in Courier. Dovecot does not suffer from that.

    Question

After changing over to Dovecot, I experience high loads not previously experienced. They were frequent and for long periods.

Here is sample of processes running when one of this high load period occurred.

Notice the numerous instances of EXIM running. Not sure if this is due to the change to DoveCot.

Any help with this is much appreciated!
