    Default Courier POP3Login issues URGENT

    We have been seeing problems with Couriers POP service. Really ever since switching from CPPOP. The fact that you can set the maximums on Couriers services seems good. However this also seems to inhibit proper functioning and tracking of problems when they arise.

    We have been seeing pop3login hitting 300 - 400 processes, however they never seem to terminate and seems to clog up the POP 3 server causing timeouts.

    We have tried changing the pop3 server limits really high and even low but always the amount of pop3logins hits the max set.

    Can anyone provide me assistance on how to deal with Courier and these problems or does anyone know of an alternative to Courier that will work with Cpanel and better for a busy POP server?

    I have also noticed that when doing the following

    netstat -nap |grep pop3login

    I see that the majority of the POP3Login processes are in CLOSE_WAIT status. Most of these never seem to go away. Only a handful are actually shown as ESTABLISHED.

    Why is this. Is Courier not dropping these connections?

    Hi

    I have the same problem.

    As processes does not close it is necessary to put a great number in configuration box, but this is not a solution.

    Try convert from mailbox to maildir. Help for me.

    Default Courier not closing connections

    Has anyone figured out a solution to this as it is still causing me problems and the server already has maildir enabled.

    Has received this problem on other server.
    Problems begin if LA more than 5-7.

    Does any spamd error writing on /var/log/maillog? We got a box which spamd always write warning on maillog and delay pop3dlogin process to write on the log. Downgrade spamd to 3.2.3 fixed the issue.

    hello,

    I also have this problem.. courier-imap processes doesnt close and keep running for days. This causes big loads on the server.

    how to fix this?

    It was switched on dovecot. Thought a problem will dare. Became even worse.
    There is a connection and collect pop3-login yet will not reach a limit. Thus at users connection breaks by timeout.

    I recommend letting our technical analysts take a look at your server so they can determine why this is happening on your server and thus be able to take appropriate action.
