    Default cPanel and Gmail

    Bit of a strange one..

Got a domain setup under cpanel account and I set the default catch-all address to my gmail one, with spamassassin disabled (as I want Gmail to filter it all - just want cpanel to forward) but every email that gets delivered to Gmail is put into Spam.

If I enable spamassassin under cpanel All the emails that get forwarded are put in the inbox - even if the email is clearly spam (because I got it the day before and Gmail nabbed it.)

Is this a Gmail thing or a cpanel thing or what?!

    Think I found it..

The MX records were 'domain.com' rather than the IP - I'll test this out for a few days and see if this helps.

The way that email forwarding works is that gmail thinks your server sent all of the email. When your server forwards the spam it thinks you sent it, so it ends up blocking your IP.

It really is not ideal to be forwarding a catch all to your gmail.

Would I perhaps be better setting up individual forwarders then?
or would this still post the same problem?

It would be the same, just individual accounts don't get as much spam. With a catch all it is a lot more.

If you want to host your email on gmail why not just use the google apps mail? Then you don't even have to bother with passing it through your server.

    I think I've got it...

If I create the separate forwarders all mail seems to be going through OK.

I used to use Google Apps, I moved to normal Gmail for more space, because I had almost every other Google product under the other gmail account and I wanted all the new features.

    Thanks for all your help!
