cppop went away and got replaced by courier

Today, all of a sudden, cppop got turned off on my server and got replaced by courier (surprising because I have manual update mode on my server).

Now whenever a user logs in, he gets an error because the new system is looking for the maildir format directories (new, cur etc) whereas my server is using the mbox format.

Can you suggest how to reactivate the cppop pop3 server?

Check if a process with the name convert2maildir is running. If yes, then your mbox files are converting right now and you should not stop this. As soon the mbox files are converted, the user can get their mails again.

No that process is not running. The mails are being delivered to the mbox format mailboxes. Only cppop is not running and when accessing the mails through pop3, there is an error (maildir error, cur dir not found).
