Disable webmail

Wouldn't be time to add in cPanel/WHM a feature to allow cPanel users or at least WHM resellers to decide which webmail client to enable/disable: Horde / Roundcube / Squirrelmail???


Once if you had server rights it was possible to disable it at user lever, now the only way to do this seems to still have server rights and to disable it for all WHM resellers' plans and all cPanel users.

It can't ba such a big effort to add this simple feature, since once was already there in WHM.

The useless buggy rvskin has got such feature in it.
Wouldn't be time to see such feature directly in the reliable X3 theme?!

Hope some smart sw designer/coder takes this challenge and add such feature in the next cPanel release.

It is strange that you have to log in then pick an email client. It would be nice to pick which email client each client wants when you setup the users account. Then when you log in it goes there automatically.

I completly agree with this idea.
If we could choose which webmail client we wanted users to have access to it would be soooo much better..
I wasn't aware that we ever had the option in the past to choose..

I'm wanting my users to be able to view their webmail, with only having to enter their login details once plus not have to choose which email client they need to go into. However you still need to make sure that they will have the option to change their password either by an external form (that can be placed into CMS sites or others) and even maybe a link in their webmail client to be able to change the password..

Please see that the option is there in a very near future release that enables us to choose which webmail client is the default to load.. TTFN

How would a new account know which email software they want to use before they see it? RoundCube is surely not ideal for all users, those who need the added features of Horde will be disappointed if they've only got RoundCube.

It may be strange to login and have to select a client, but strange compared to what? To gmail, yahoo or hotmail? We've got multiple options to offer. People like options.

I agree with Infopro, It is a useless feature and waste of time on the part of cPanel to even consider this.

More options for the final user are not always a good choice:

IN GENERAL

1) more options can confuse final user
user typically call-in webhoster's tech support to ask which webmail (Squirrel/Roundcube/Horde) is better to use.


2) more options might increase final user's calls to webhoster's tech support
More webmail clients => more sw code => more probability someone inserts a bug => more probabilty final user calling to complain something does not work!

But once they decide the end user could set thier default webemail client. I do not disagree the ability to choose which one based on personal preferences is a plus, but once that decsion is made it would be nice to pick a default per user.

The enable autoload is slower than picking a client even if you reduce the load time.

Again I agree, moreover is not only a matter of autoload, obviously I could create cPanel plan and before sending the user+psw to my customer I could set up the autoload in customer's cPanel for a webmail client, but this would for sure intrigue more the curious customer, he would call in twice instead of once:

1. the 1st time to ask our tech support why every time he goes in webmail he sees for a while a screen with 3 options and then the webmail client is autoloaded?
   Then he would for sure ask us how to disable this because he wants to play with all webmail clients.
   
2. the 2nd time he would call us asking what webmail client is better to use and to report he had some issue with one webmail client and even if he uses the other one he wants the issue on the webamail client he doesn't use to be fixed anyway, otherwise he gets the feeling we are not reliable.

All this are useless call-in tickets for the cPanel/WHM reseller, that could be easily avoided if cPanel/WHM would provide a way to pick up which webmail client to show in webmail instead of displaying 3 webmail client.

Please do this simple calc: if you have 100 new customers every here, it means you get 200 useless call-in tech support tickets every year for nothing.

I started with cPanel and I still prefer cPanel, and I would like to go on using cPanel webhosters for many years, but even at Plesk they understood the need of a feature to select which webmail client to enable/disable on accounts.

People at cPanel seems more software engineers oriented rather than business oriented.
