DomainKeys Yet?

Any developments with DomainKeys & cPanel yet? Less than 10% of our user-requested(!) emails are making it into Yahoo inboxes. And I think a major cause is our lack of DomainKeys. Any ideas if/when this will work?

We will not implement domain keys this year.

We did a limited rollout on a few test machine and had nothing but problems. The domainkeys code causes havoc on older machines, until those machines go away its not going to get rolled out.

What other recourse do we have than to wait until you get around to it?

Well, I can't tell you what to do, but I'm forced to look for other control panel options. I'm sure I'll be disappointed in what I find, but I'll trade a little disappointment for properly delivered (mission critical) emails.

Blame it on Yahoo. If your server doesn't send SPAM and is properly set up in every other fashion, there is no reason in the world why any emails from your server should end up in somebody else's spambox unless the recipient previously tagged your mail as spam or the mail provider is being a nazi (and a lot of them do - the big elephants like to force others into doing things their way).

We should be grateful that cpanel decided it was too buggy to try to roll out, due to so many older servers out there.

It would be nice if it were an option. Perhaps only available to servers that meet certain requirements.

But Yahoo, and especially AOL, have become a problem as they are getting more aggressive trying to control spam.

Plus, they are giving their users way way too much control with labeling things spam. I've had aol users mark some important, requested info as spam. It was simply a reply to their email, and they marked it as spam.

Remember the level of e-smarts of the AOL user. One should not give ediots powerful tools.

Surely we can't wait until every old machine drops off the net.

DomainKeys is not an insane solution. It's perfectly reasonable to want legitimate mail servers to do what they can to prove that they are valid and legitimate mail servers. If gmail, microsoft, and yahoo support DomainKeys, then we must follow. This isn't a matter of "blame Yahoo". It's a matter of "If Yahoo, Gmail, and Hotmail want us to implement Sender ID and DomainKeys, then you bet your ass we better implement them"

Customers aren't going to care about the dick waving going on, they're going to care about their mail getting put in the spambox since their server isn't doing everything it can to be compliant with current spam fighting techniques

If you'd like to volunteer to be an alpha tester, we can roll the functionality on to one of your machines as long as you understand that its most likely going to cause problems.

I'd love to, but I only admin 1 server, and it's in production full time. You should have plenty of test servers to play with and staff much more knowledgeable than me.

So being a bit of a newb to cpanel.. what does basic support in beta builds mean to me the newb admin? I havent seen any mention of cvs builds anywhere.. and beta isn't in the release tree..

Does that mean that someone who would really like domain keys support could get it sooner rather than later??? I am losing alot of business do to the fact I cannot get mail into yahoo..

You'll have to update to beta

echo "CPANEL=beta" >> /etc/cpupdate.conf

then run /usr/local/cpanel/bin/domain_keys_installer <user>


However DOMAIN KEYS are experimental and its BETA so YMMV.
