Default Email Forwarder no lower takes upper case letters in the email address

I just noticed a "problem" with the forwarder in cpanel 11 and I was wondering if it was an intentional change or the introduction of a bug. If you specify a forwarding address it can no longer take capital letters.

JohnSmith[@your domain] --> John.Smith@Foo.Com is no longer legal.

    But

    johnsmith[@your domain] --> John.Smith@Foo.Com is still legal.

Admittedly case does not matter for emails, but when you’re looking at a bunch of names in a forwarding list, the ability to have upper and lower case makes for much easier reading. And why change something that’s been working and accepted for eons?

Also, the displaying of the list of forwarding email addresses no longer does it in a nice, one page display. It now breaks it up into multiple pages. I can’t seem to find a way to display them all on one page.

I encountered the same error as well while trying to add forwarder which contain Upper case, example: AdminBilling@domian.com

Error message: Sorry, the Username can only contain lower case alphe, numeric, periods, hypend, or underscore characters.

Do any know how to bypass this feature? Thanks

I tested to add the forwarder manually at /etc/valiases/domainname

But, it seem that it is not really work, example forwarder that i had defined:

    1. BillingTech@domainname forward to test@domainabc.com (upper case)
    2. billingtech@domainname forward to test@domainxyz.com (lower case)

When first time sent email to BillingTech@domainname, it will forward a copy test@domainabc.com (which is right)

then, send another email to to billingtech@domainname, it will reach test@domainabc.com as well, it something like cache in the server and the upper/lower not a sensitive case.

Any one try on add it manually?

    Rgds,

The oversight has been corrected. Now the forwarders can be created using capital letters.

    Thanks.

BTW, is there a way to simply upload and download the list of forwarders so entries don't have to slowly added one-by-one using the GUI? As either a simple text file, xml, etc., but the GUI would still be usable and list of forwarders coherent?

If you're comfortable with scripting (even PHP scripting) and have at least reseller access to the server, you can call the API2 function for adding a forwarder from the XML API.

config server's mail manage is pretty handy for that sort of stuff.

May I know this had been corrected at which cpanel build? Kindly advise.
    Thanks

We still encounter some problems with this, especially when multiple forwarders are created for the same emailaddress.

We would like to know in which build this was solved too.
