Email Notifier Wanted

I would like to know if there is a way notify users or Email in one of two ways.
1. Forward messages to an alternate Email (easy) and include in each forwarded message a link for the person to log in to their webmail.

2. Some kind of desktop notifier that would allow them to easily access messages and alert them when they have new messages (that last part is easy, it's the link to the webmail that isn't).
