exim failed

Exim keeps on failing and I get this message every 5 minutes.

exim failed @ Fri Oct 23 14:25:36 2009. A restart was attempted automagically.

Service Check Method: [tcp connect]

Failure Reason: Unable to connect to port 125

Does anyone know what can be wrong?

If you have an access to the server then kindly try the below mentioned command:

/scripts/eximup --force

I did that and after a (reinstall) I get

Waiting for exim to restart..............finished.

exim (/usr/sbin/exim -bd -q60m) running as mailnull with PID 18230
exim (/usr/sbin/exim -tls-on-connect -bd -oX 465) running as mailnull with PID 18235

exim has failed, please contact the sysadmin.
Install Complete

exim failed !! in big mess !! Error:package exim is not installed
