Default Exim RBL Whitelist Editor - ip block

    Hi:
We would like to Whitelist Postini and our Class c from the rbl check.
Can you enter ranges like 10.0.0.0/24 in this whitelist?

    Exim RBL Whitelist Editor
    Description

Enter the IP addresses you wish to whitelist from RBL lookups below.

    Thanks!
    Pete

I put in a ticket today with cPanel and one of the items was to request that CIDR addressing (i.e. network blocks like 10.0.0.0/24) be added to the RBL Whitelist feature.

I'm still on 11.24 Stable... perhaps this is fixed/improved in 11.25?

FYI, internal cPanel ticket regarding this issue is #35293.

It appears that Exim allows CIDR addressing for the RBL whitelist, but WHM won't take it.

Also, I believe they are going to make it more clear that after editing the RBL Whitelist and hitting SAVE, you still have to go back to the main Exim Config screen and hit SAVE there, too... or your RBL edits are not active. You've been warned. :-)

    Ahah,

Just yesterday I tried whitelisting a mail server IP from RBL checking and wondered why it still wasn't whitelisting even after it showed up in the whitelist editor when i checked later.

    Thanks for the tip.

I had to re-open my ticket with cPanel on this. I have added some IPs to the RBL Whitelist, saved it, then did another save on the main Exim config screen, which reloads the config and restarts Exim.

When I look at the log, it is still blocking the IPs that I whitelisted. I would dare say that this whole RBL Whitelist thing is completely broken.

I will let you know what I find out with my ticket.

BTW, I'm still on 11.24 Stable, so maybe this problem has been resolved in newer versions.

Is this still broken? I tried adding some IPs and they do not save.

When you are in the RBL editor and have added some IPs, you have to hit SAVE, then on the main Exim screen in WHM you have to hit Save there also, which will force a save of the whole Exim config, then force an Exim restart.

If you are doing that, and the IP you added to the RBL Whitelist is still being blocked by an RBL, I would highly suggest opening a ticket.

For anyone that is still having a problem with the RBL Whitelist feature, it is broken. Per cPanel today:

The problem with the RBL Whitelist not working is a bug documented in our internal bug database #32103.

As a work around until a fix is released, you can add IP's to /etc/skipsmtpcheckhosts. This can be done via WHM >> Exim Configuration Editor >> Whitelist: Bypass all SMTP time recipient/sender/spam/relay checks [Edit].
Basically, the RBL Whitelist feature does not work at all.

    Hope this helps.
