Which File backs up email aliases?

I want to set up a CRON job to backup the files I need to restore a site in the event of a complete failure. Where does cPanel store the eMail aliases for forwarding? I have copied the etc folder to a new website -however it does not restore the aliases used for forwarding?

Any clarification would be helpful.

Why not just do a full site backup of that site and restore the contents on the new server if you are migrating the website?

The instructions say - that you cannot use a full backup to do a restore via cPanel? How does one do a restore even if you are moving a site to new server? I guess I am confused - it seems like conflicting information? Please clarify?

A full site backup would be restored by the system administrator of the new server. Even though the end-user can create the backup, it takes an administrator to restore the backup.

Correct - I did believe I understood correctly.
What we are trying to do is provide a layer of protection for our customers on shared hosting.
We want to have an in-house backup copy - weekly of the db and public_html; and just wanted to also have other configurations stored as well; email forward/filters.
We also planned on automating the db/public_html via CRON job since cPanel does not automate.
If you have any other suggestions, I truly appreciate the feedback.

Do you have root access to the server? If so, why not enable automatic backups?

I dont have access to WHM; is it not possible to capture the email forwarders via CRON job? Doesn't any one know where they area stored by cPanel?

All files you have access to and are relevant to that user are stored in their home directory. Files outside that directory generally cannot be accessed by the user anyway, thus would be unable to be backed up by a cron job running as that user.
