    Default Forwarding question...

    Scenario...

    One mail account sarah@mydomain.com

    3 individual forwarders...

    bob@mydomain.com
    chris@mydomain.com
    sally@mydomain.com

Each of these is set to forward its mail to sarah@mydomain.com

    Question...

If I send one email, addressed to bob, chris and sally - how many emails will sarah get ?

Nope - Sarah received just the one message.

I thought that was strange and sent myself an email, adding my address three times to the recipient list - I too only received the one message.

So I'm guessing exim works in the same way for forwarders - if it is addressed to multiple recipients that end up being the same destination, only one message is received.

Could anyone possibly confirm this ?

    Question

    Confirmed on cPanel 11.18.3-R21703

Multiple forwarders setup to one destination mailbox -> only one message will be received if it was addressed to multiple addresses that are forwarded to this mailbox.

In this single message, the "Envelope-to:" header will contain both emailaddresses, even if they were both in the Bcc field with another 3th recipient in To:

I don't really know if this is behaviour that should be (optionally) different in exim, but it does seem to brake the setup of having multiple forwarders to a central mailbox which is then retrieved by a mailserver.

I'd be happy to know if anyone has been thinking/fixing a way around this.
