    When you will upgrade ASSP to latest version? Still using 1.3.9.X... The version 1.5.2.1 has been released!

    Default denysmtpalways

    ASSPx is out of date in some aspects.

    Today I have to report a problem with denysmtpalways, where block 174.0.0.0/7 and others entire classes for cisco network, etc.

    174.36, for example, is a class from SL-DC, so many hosting and no hosting servers are blocked. I suggest remove 174.0.0.0 from denysmtpalways file.

    localemails file is showing this:
    @domain1
    @domain2
    @domain3
    @domain4
    email@domain1.com
    email@domain2.com

    email@domain6.com
    email@domain7.com
    email@domain8.com

    How do I remove the wildcard domains at the top? They are set to :fail, so they shouldn't be there. Dictionary attacts are accepted by assp because of this, although they don't go anywhere because the emails don't exist, but they shouldn't be accepted to begin with!!!

    I fixed this by going to cpanel, and even though it said ":fail: No such use here", I clicked apply so it changed it to ":fail: No such person at this address", or whatever it says. That fixed it.

    So, perhaps asspx looks specifically for that exact wording, and not just :fail: or :blackhole: in general???

    Hi,

    Can someone please assist me. When a user adds a new email address, it doesn't work for at least 2 days. The error he / she get's is "user not found".

    Is there a way to tell ASSPX that a new email account was setup and it should be accepting email immediately?

    Are you sure it is taking 2 days? It should take less than 5 minutes. There are a couple of assp scripts that run all the time

    ps aux | grep assp

    Try this:

    stop the assp service
    service assp stop

    then, kill all the extra assp scripts still running that you see. use this to see which ones to kill:

    ps aux| grep assp

    then, start assp

    service assp restart

    Hopefully, it will work correctly. Give it a few minutes to start all processes, then add a new email. You will know it is added when you look at the file /usr/local/assp/files/localemails

    Yup, I checked with 1 client, and their email only worked 2 days later. This new client's email only works a day later - after I restarted assp.

    This is the process list I have right now:
    Code:
    root@mars [~]# ps aux | grep assp
    root      5135  0.1  0.3   8732  7244 ?        S    Jul14   1:10 perl /usr/local/assp/scripts/asspcheck

    root     20725  0.0  0.0   2420   972 ?        S    06:57   0:00 /bin/sh /etc/init.d/assp start
    root     20726  1.6  0.9  22036 20336 ?        S    06:57   0:02 /usr/bin/perl -- /usr/local/assp/assp.pl /usr/local/assp

    New addresses synced with some delay. At worst it is the hour.

    You may force ASSP X update if you'd like to restart localemails generation daemon.

    Btw, we are currently comparing literally hundreds (!) of obsolete and new configuration values between 1.3.x and 1.7.x versions slowly going closer to release of ASSP X which will be based on 1.7.x

    Question

    That's great news indeed.

    However I have a small request:

    Can you please change the high load check to the one that gives same results on different OSes?

    The reason I am asking is that I run ASSPX on FreeBSD based cPanel, and had to modify the installation script and all other scripts quite heavily due to use of Linux specific commands, command options etc.

    It took me few hours to successfully hack current version of ASSPX, but with just some little changes you can make it a lot easier with newer version.

    Here is what I kindly ask you to change:

    in ASSPX.pm (and all other scripts):
    Code:
    my $load=`cat /proc/loadavg | tr '.' ' ' | awk '{print\$1}'`;
    to
    Code:
    my $load=`uptime | awk -F'load averages:' '{ print $2 }' | tr '.' ' ' | awk '{print$1}'`;
    (uptime command is common among *nix systems, so why not use it? )

    And also, if possible, to change within install.sh:

    from:
    Code:
    ln -sv something something
    to
    Code:
    ln -s something something
    as -v (verbose) option is not recomended for scripts at all.

    Please let us know when new ASSPX is going to be available as I will gladly prepare FreeBSd version of it.

    regards,
    Woyteck
