The /home/user/mail/new is the UNIX account email!!! It is not one of your regular emails, instead its the UNIX account that is used for hosting.

For example, user@server.domain.com is a real email address and will store emails under /home/user/mail/new, while the actual hosted email addresses will look like: /home/user/mail/domain.com/user/new !!

This has always been a problem because delivery failures and stuff like that will not bounce to a hosted email address, instead they go to the UNIX account email.

Check to see what kind of emails this guy has been receiving and delete them.

This is the folder used by the default email address to save the messages.

The default email address will "catch" any mail that is sent to an invalid email address for your domain. All mail that is sent to an address that does not exist as pop3 or forwarder will go to the default email address. Is is strongly recommended that you setup Default Address to :fail:

This will make your domain safe from dictionary attacks where spammers send millions of emails addressed to random addresses on your domain.

Setting the Default address to :fail: does not bounce emails. It rejects the email at smtp even before receiving emails i.e. when the sending server starts communicating with the mail server on your account, it asks to deliver email to a certain address. If that address does not exist, it will not accept the email.
