    Not understanding you, I'm sure. You can send an email from your email client on your computer but the password for that account setup in you email client is incorrect. That email still goes out anyway, from your computer, to your mail server, and then is received by the recipient it was intended for?

    What version of cPanel are you on?

    You might want to log a ticket with cPanel and have them take a look.

    Are you able to receive e-mail on these accounts using Outlook or Thunderbird? If so, your IP is logged for 30 minutes and allowed to send e-mail without authenticating. This is a default feature in cPanel called "POP before SMTP"

    That is correct. If needing to disable the feature, it can be stopped by disabling the "antirelayd" item in the WHM Service Manager (listed under Tailwatch Drivers), as available via the following menu path:
    WHM: Main >> Service Configuration >> Service Manager
    * Antirelayd

    Here is related documentation for the Service Manager in WHM:
    ServiceMgr < AllDocumentation/WHMDocs < TWiki

    Can you send without using a password?

    Also, keep in mind that you don't require a valid SMTP authentication to send to a recipient whose mail is on the same machine that you are using for sending mail.

    So, if you have a machine named cpanel5.blah.com and you are sending your mail through that server and you are sending to bill@microsoft.com and Bill's mail server is also cpanel5.blah.com, then you won't require SMTP to send to it.

    I.e., sending mail to recipients whose mail is housed on the same machine that you are using for SMTP service doesn't require SMTp authentication.

    This is indeed true and quite a troublesome area.
    Some spammers have actually been taking advantage of this by relaying through a domains own SMTP to spam that domain.

    Anyone know a solution to that?
