Default Huge Load of Delivery Status Notification / Undelivered Mail

I dont receive spam for months now.
We didn't have any problem with spam at all (thanks god)

But the last 2 days we receive huge load of emails
from lots of email server around the world with the replies:
    Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender,
    Delivery Status Notification (Failure)
    and goes on....

Somebody sending spam using obviously a fake address
like someone@mydomain.com and all the delivery status failures
comes to my address at me@mydomain.com

I got more than 100 emails / day and counting and I don't know if there is anything to do
    to prevent this.

I have in Cpanel > Mail > Email Authentication
both Domainkeys and SPF enabled but with no luck I assume.

Any ideas, solutions ? or I will just keep receiving these emails ?

    Regards,
    Chris

I have what appears to be a similar situation just a few posts down.

    Hey partner
Now I got more than 200+ emails from returning delivery failures
and still didn't find a way to block them.

I dont know if filtering is an option because it might
some clients to send normal emails to someone who will
not receive it and then the returned delivery failure will never
come to his/her mailbox to know... That's the real problem...

So no solution yet how to stop the returned fake/from spammers emails...

Are these messages going to real e-mail addresses on your domain or are they going to your default address?

If they are going to your default address, then I would consider setting your default address to discard messages.

I set it and made some tests. If I tell cpanel to discard then I cannot retrieve any email.
Either discard or discard silently doesnt work. Then nothing comes in.

You need to set up e-mail account or e-mail forwarders for the specific addresses on your domain that you expect to receive e-mail at.

If you only anticipate receiving e-mail at bob@yourdomain.com, then you need to either set up bob@yourdomain.com as a POP/IMAP account and check it with a POP/IMAP application (or webmail) OR you can set up bob@yourdomain.com to forward to an e-mail address that you do check.

This same process needs to be repeated for any other e-mail addresses you anticipate receiving e-mail at.

Generally speaking, most people only have one or a handful of actual e-mail addresses that they expect to receive e-mail at.

I've created a user with the same name with my cpanel name (chris)
I set the cpanel email option to discard the email with a notification message
to the sender and it worked.
I didnt knew that I can create a new email account with the same name...

    Anyway, thanks
    No more trouble.

    Regards,
    Chris
