    Hi all,

Can anyone please recommend a decent spam filter for me, but not ASSP / ASSPX?

Have you considered a hardware based solution such as barracuda or mailfoundry?

Is that really the only other option available?

So, are you telling me that we either need to use ASSP/X, or a hardware firewall?

ConfigServer has a good MailScanner/SpamAssassin installation package, and there are also things you can do such as nolisting and RBLs that will help.

Some people have also had success with SpamAssassin at mail receipt time.

The specific advantage of the ASSP family is apparently the low CPU use, as I've heard, though I have no firsthand experience...

Google also have a mail filtering product, if you have a few domains under real pressure.

We've been using ConfigServer MailScanner Service for years without any problems, no hassles.

I missed the fact you had not tried mailscanner - that would be my next try. The configserver scripts work pretty good

I did use mail scanner at some stage, but the server load was too high. Also, I find their price too high for the amount of servers we have.
