Can anyone advise under what circumstances mail addressed to

sales@domain_on_cpanel_server

Is redirected to the root alias on the server. I 'm trying to figure out why I keep getting tons of mail addressed to other domains when the address isnt an alias that should get it forwarded on.

I know that addresses like postmaster and abuse etc are forwarded to root - but these ones seem totally random.
