Check if your firewall is blocking emails from being sent. Disable the firewall and try re sending the email

Are you able to ping from server to outside?

    ping domainname.com
    [root@linux ~]$ w

What I meant with the firewall was that installed on your server and not the local machine.

Yes. I mean logging to server via ssh. If you are not able to ping outside then you need to check the /etc/resolv.conf entries.

Set it to googles dns name servers and see if you are able to ping.

    ping yahoo.com

Once ping is ok, try to send emails and see the results. Also if you have any firewall installed on server stop it.

When I type ping yahoo.com it says unknown.

    I tried nslookup results below.

    Code:
    root@server [~]# nslookup yahoo.com
    Server: 127.0.0.1
    Address: 127.0.0.1#53

    Non-authoritative answer:
    Name: yahoo.com
    Address: 72.30.2.43
    Name: yahoo.com
    Address: 98.137.149.56
    Name: yahoo.com
    Address: 98.139.180.149
    Name: yahoo.com
    Address: 209.191.122.70

    Same error message:
