    Default Mail forwarder

I'm trying to setup a mail domain forwarder in cPanel, I get a green tick when I enter a name, ie "default" but when I add the domain, ie "@mydomain.com" I get a red cross with the error "Sorry, the Host Domain field must be a valid domain name." which it is.

cPanel link to fwd email doamin - frontend/x3/mail/fwds.html

I've searched the bugs, but not able to find this listed...but that doesn't mean it's not there lol

To forward an address, you need a complete email address as the destination. You say domain forwarding, which is an option at the bottom of the mail forwarding page, but you're describing forwarding an address.

I want a catch-all...so all emails that get sent to @mydomain.com domain will be sent to default@mydomain.com

When I complete a mail forwarding setting mydomain.com ---> default@mydomain.com I get the error message about need a valid domain required.

It accepts mydomain.com ---> default (ie no @ and domain name) it accepts that, but obviously it doesn't work.

It's as though the code to check for valid domain is incorrect and works the wrong way around.

    edit: typo

A catch-all is something completely different. It is handled through "default address" which may not be available, depending on your settings. I strongly advise against using a catch-all. All it does is collect tons of spam, especially when spammers try a dictionary attack. Meanwhile, without a catch-all, the sender will be notified of any incorrectly addressed mail.

I'm creating a temporary email service, so a catch-all is required...all emails are deleted after several mins.

There is no default icon and when I use frontend/x3/mail/def.html url, I can set it but it's not saved.

So what is the email domain forwarding feature for if not to forward emails?

Email domain forwarding is for forwarding user1@example.com to user1@example.net, user2@example.com to user2@example.net, etc - forwarding to the corresponding address on another domain.

I thought that was "Email Account Forwarders" not "Email Domain Forwarders"

I think I understand it now...

Email Domain Forwarders forward from "MyDomain.com" to "My2ndDomain.com" - useful if you register MyDomain.com/.co.uk/co.au/.net etc etc to send all emails to one specific domain address

    Hello,

Domain forwarder feature allow you to forward emails if both domains have same email address. If default address feature not allowed to set email address then it may disabled by your hosting provider.
