I use cPanel through my hosting service provider (BlueHost). They have cPanel Version 11.30.3 (build 5) and I use SpamAssassin for spam control.
Now I noticed that some emails don't get through. I disabled all user and account filters and I also disabled SpamAssassin so nothing is filtered out.
I still don't receive a message from a particular recipient. My worry is not the specific recient but instead, the fact that I don't have control of what is being blocked, by who and where it is. I may lose critical messages in the future so I want to resolve this now.
Specifics:
I receive a confirmation email from NimBuzz service for Paypal payment. That message never arrives although it is not blocked anywhere (since I disabled all filters).
clues:
- The sender's server is not listed in any DNS blacklists (I checked)
- I created a spoofed replica of the same message (same subject, body, from header) and it comes through fine.
- I used an alternate e-mail address and I can receive that email, so it is only blocked with this account.
This means that for some reason, the server cannot establish communication with my server (BlueHost).
Can anyone explain where, why and how this message is blocked and where I can find it?
Who should take action, Me, BlueHost or the sender?
