Default Move courier imap maildirs from non cpanel server to cpanel

    Hello all

Sorry if this have been coverd, I couldn't find it. First let me say I have about 5 hours of experience with cpanel (Total Newbie). Now my issue. I've got a pretty big imap maildir on a non cpanel server. it's running qmail, courier imap, vpopmail, horde etc... The standard qmail toaster installation. Now I want to move all that to my brand new Cpanel managed server. As I unerstand the standard cpanel install uses uwimap(?) something that is not courier. Now I'm wondering the best way to go about this. I assume my two options are

    1. Install courier on my cpanel server.

    2. Convert my maildir from courier to uwimap.

Of course I'm looking for the easiest, least error prone way to do this. Also I assume uwimap was chosen to be included in cpanel for a reason, and I'd rather not hack cpanel or do some behind the scenes install that's going to make cpanel more prone to errors etc... It seems pretty slick and I'd like to be able to use it in the future.

Usenet has surprissingly little to say about this, which makes me wonder if I'm missing something.

Anyway, I guess I'm just asking for advice and or links to advice.

    Thanks.

If you are using the maildir option, then your cPanel/WHM is using Courier. The uwimap days are over for most of us.

I don't know if it will work if one simply copies the mailbox folder over -- I have not tried that before. What will definately work, is to use a tool like fetchmail to read the email from the old server and deliver it to the mailbox on your cPanel server. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fetchmail for more info

I recently transferred my 2GB of imap emails onto my new cPanel VPS server.

I used imapsync to achieve this, and it worked fine.
