Default Newbie question:forwarding email while keeping a copy?

    Hi!

Just got a new hosting account on kiosk.ws and I don't think tech support is undertanding what I want to do.

I have email account something1@somewhere.com and I want to send a COPY of ALL emails received on something1@somewhere.com to something2@somewhere.com. If I do a FORWARD,then the mail never gets to something1@somewhere.com.

The purpose of this is so that I can get all my personal email forwarded to my work email so I have a backup and get it quicker (firewall won't let me view it online nor add it to work outlook as we're on exchange). My home PC isn't always on and I don't want to rely on it to do the forwarding.

I'm sure there is a way to do this easilly but I can't figure it out.

    Any ideas?

The easiest way to do this is to set up both an account with that address and a forwarder with that address. The account will store a copy of the emails while the forwarder will forward a copy to your other address.

    Default Thanks, but won't work.

My provider won't let me have double accounts like this.

It seems to me I had this problem on another host and someone gave me an archaic string to put onto the forwarder that told the server to "keep a copy" when you forward or something like that? Does this ring a bell? It was very cryptic but worked.

That doesn't sound possible as you'll need an email account for the mail to be delivered to. AFAIK the only way to accomplish this is to have an email account in cPanel and then to add a forwarder that sends mail for that email account to your off-site account.

    Default clarification.

Ok. here's the detailed description vs. theory.

I have an email bpollina@pollinacomputing.com that is my email I check in outlook at home.

I wish to set cpanel up so that anytime anything goes to bpollina@pollinacomputing.com it sends a COPY to my work account at brad.pollina@reuters.com . From what I understand, using traditional 'forward' section deletes the copy after it forwards so that bpollina@pollinacomputing.com would never see it, just brad.pollina@reuters.com .

    Does this help?

    Thanks

    Brad Pollina

I'll just repeat what David said above. Create the account bpollina@pollinacomputing.com and create a forwarder bpollina@pollinacomputing.com >>> brad.pollina@reuters.com

It's really that easy, and I do it exactly that way, and you'll get the same email at both accounts.

    Really! Just do it now!

Yes, I just got the confirmation from cPanel support : it's actually a bug. It's working on X theme and failing on X3 theme.

    That should be possible.

If you are a root user, feel free to submit a ticket. Otherwise contact your web hosting provider regarding this issue so they can work with our techs to resolve the issue.
