    Default newexim versus eximup

Does anyone know what would be different between /scripts/newexim (installs latest exim) and /scripts/eximup (updates exim)..

Would newexim wipe my old configuration?

Anyway, for various perfomance/spam reasons, I think I need to get my exim to a newer level. The latest CPanel Stable only got me up to 4.63-1, and I think I need a newer one to keep the spam from overwhelming my resources (reject more at RCPT time, and spend less resources dealing with spam?)

Would eximup get me the latest version, even if I don't go to the Release version of CPanel? Will a newer version of Exim work with WHM 11.2.0, cPanel 11.11.0-S16999 ? Will the next Cpanel update just bump me back to an older exim anyway?

I also am moving slowly on the next CPanel update, because I have to deal with the mbox to maildir upgrade, and that involves notifying about 400 not-so-bright clients, and dealing with their panic at the news that NeoMail will be gone, and their Squirellmail folders will be unsubscribed, etc.

Exim 4.68 support has not yet propagated to STABLE.

Yeah... but can I upgade to it anyway using eximup or newexim? And would there be problems if I did that?

I'm just not clear on the interactions here... for example would the older cpanel (Stable) mess up my 4.68 config files if I tried to use the cpanel configuration editor?

If I manually edited the configuration files until Stable did get up to 4.68, would I be OK when that happened...

Using /scripts/eximup is typically how one upgrades Exim in a cPanel/WHM environment.

OK... let me be a little more specific... I KNOW that eximup will upgrade Exim in the cpanel environement... But will it upgrade me only to the version of Exim that normally comes with my current version of cpanel, or will it over-ride that limit and get me to 4.68?

And if it does let me bypass the normal exim version for this version of cpanel, could there be problems with that?

/scripts/eximup will only bring you to the version that is supported for that build tree of cPanel/WHM.
