Default One Big Mess (certain domains can send, but not receive)

    I have a domain and a subdomain (domain.com & sub.domain.com).

I can send messages from support@domain.com and support@sub.domain.com, but I can only receive messages at sub.domain.com and not support@domain.com. I get a "user unknown" error for the main domain.

Additionally when I try setting any emails up in a client (mail.app) it can never connect to the mail server (mail.domain.com or mail.sub.domain.com). I've used to auto-config scripts, and tried manually setting it up, with no luck. Any suggestions?

I would run a dnsreport @ dnstuff.com, if you do not have access (It is a paid subscription) pm me the domain and I will run it for you.

Did you create an email address support@domain.com (or have a redirect for that address?).

As for the mail client connecting to the mail server, is it not connecting for inbound mail, outbound mail or both?

I am assuming both, because it doesn't download any message or allow me to send any out.

And yes I did create a support@domain.com email address.

@rhenderson Thanks for the suggestion. I am talking with my coworkers about getting an account.

I find it invaluable for tracking DNS errors.
