    Question prune inactive mail account

    Hi,

Around 10.000 e-mails accounts are available in our server and we believe that at least 40% of them are inactive for 30 days. I searched a lot for pruning these inactive mail accounts but couldn't find a script to remove these accounts. Do you have any advice on pruning these mail accounts?

    Hello dinho,

Users aren't going to be happy about email accounts being removed from their account whether they are active or not. It would be like removing a script that isn't being visited simply because it hasn't been visited in 30 days. While it would be possible to do a search for files that haven't been modified for over 30 days for the user mail directories, I would never provide such a script to someone due to the fact that I disagree with the concept of removing user created email accounts simply due to inactivity.

    Thanks.

    Good Afternoon Tristan

Thanks for the reply and help on topic

I would like to teach me a way to view accounts over 30 days without use or that had not changed at least your files via script or command line, so then I'll be removing the accounts by cpanel. For the customer there is a final agreement that establishes that the accounts not being used would be removed automatically.

    Hello dinho,

I also replied with this to your personal message that was sent to me.

As I stated, I would not be able to provide a script due to the fact that I disagree with the idea: I have a principled stance that is contrary to what you are wanting to accomplish.

I can point you in the direction to develop your own script. Since you want to find files not accessed since a certain time or written to, you could grab files in a list by date and remove files by date. Here is a thread that discusses such an idea:

    Thanks!
