Default Question about returning (bounce) a message back to sender...

    Hi there.

    Just a simple (?) question...
Say that I want a filtering of this kind...:

    From thisthatdot@domainname.com

    Wanted action:
    Reply to thisthatdot@domainname.com?subject="Message received"

As a filter, is this at all possible, and if so, how do I do it?

    Regards
    Jan Guldvog.

    Default Thank you very much...

    ... - but:

I've already tried that, and it seems to be something wrong here, the behaviour is rather unstable, so to say it...

What precisely do you mean by "The behaviour is rather unstable"?.

    Default Thanx for replying...

I shall try to explain what I mean...

It is about the domain www.Guldvog.no, which I own and control.
My personal Email Address is jan@guldvog.no - there I think you have at least two of the important pieces...

I shall be a little more concret about why I sent in this question.
Say that I get an Email from a person that I do *not* want to receive any more Emails from.
Let us say that this person's Email Address is jan@pcbygger.com, a domain name that I control, own and operate.
The real one is of course not this (I see no reason to put it up here).

I then send from this Email Address, to jan@guldvog.no.
I then have put up a forwarder, so that Emails received from this account are sent to reject@guldvog.no (an Auto-responder only account), which then is to bounce back a message that Emails are blocked from the sender...

It is also the meaning that Emails from this sender shall *not* reach me, and this is where I've had problems...
I've tested from Windos Mail (I run Windows Vista Business), but here it seems like the things I set up when sending ain't working the way I want it to do.

However, I just tried from a mail account (jan@pcbygger.com) using Webmail, and there it worked as intended.

I will try a little more later on.

    Regards
    Jan.

Note, setting up a forwarder will still deliver the mail to jan@ as well as send a copy to reject@. So you may want to to that rule the action to discard the message as well.

    Default Thanks.

The Email I sent from jan@pcbygger.com got through at the first attempt, but the reject message also worked.
A discard still doesn't block it from getting through, though (I have changed the user from to be demo@pcbygger.com).

I will try to test this a little more.

    Regards
    Jan.

Default I have tested a little more...

Despite having both a Email Autoresponder and discard, one Email so far still got through...

I have a feeling that I have some bugs jumping around here...

    Regards
    Jan.

Unhappy I have tested from another account as well...

    Here it is consistent...

Emails gets through, despite *both* auto-responder sending *and* Discard rule...

    Any ideas?

    Regards
    Jan.
