Receiving mail

I've inherited two addresses: @email.mydomain.org and @mydomain.org

The first sends and receives mail properly. The second (@mydomain.org), which I'd like to use, sends but does not receive mail.
Any attempt at sending or replying to mail from @mydomain.org receives a "tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 550 550-5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist."

Does anyone know what's happening?

What it sounds like, is the account was created on the cPanel server as email.mydomain.org, and so in /etc/localdomains, the server has only email.mydomain.org, not mydomain.org, listed. Because of this, it does not know what to do with the mail, and gives up.

Are you the root/WHM administrator of the server, or do you only have a cPanel account? Adding an entry for just the domain name, without the subdomain, to /etc/localdomains should help, but this must be done by the root user.
