    Default roundcube and Horde is failing

    Hi,

    I looked through a few other threads with no response that fixed my problem. When trying to access webmail via Roundcube, I get "connection to IMAP failed" and when trying to access webmail via Horde I get "username password incorrect"

    This just started happening as I was able to log in this morning and nothing, that I can tell, as changed in that time.

    IMAP connections outside of webmail appear to be working just fine, as are pop and smtp connections.

    I am thinking that somehow the connection between webmail (either horde or roundcube) and imap has been severed.

    I filed a support ticket but hopefully someone has seen this before?

    This is now becoming a little more urgent since all webmail on the server is broken. There are a few other threads where this has been seen but nobody seems to have a solution, which is quite odd.

    cPanel support did not seem to be able to identify what was going on but it looked like they just tried to do an update, which didn't work.

    This morning I rolled back to the latest STABLE build and this is still not working.

    My hosting company said this:

    There was a cPanel update last night which affected the mail service, but in order to apply the fix we would need access to the server.


    So after they do the fix ill post the commands up here.

    The roundcube error log says that it is unable to connect to localhost:143

    Seems odd since IMAP is up and running fine and allowing connections without any issues to everything except webmail.

    I believe the problem is that php can not connect to localhost:143.

    I have tried to connect locally without any trouble.

    I wrote a little php code to test the connection and this was the result:

    Warning: fsockopen() [function.fsockopen]: unable to connect to localhost:143 (Connection timed out)
    ERROR Number: 110
    Error String: Connection timed out


    I assume this could be the root of the problem but I have no idea how to fix it.

    If, in the same php code, I try to connect to the server IP address instead of localhost, then everything works.

    So...... Why does localhost not work? (yes /etc/hosts is correct)

    I can get roundcube working if I edit:

    /usr/local/cpanel/base/3rdparty/roundcube/config]# vi main.inc.php

    and replace the instances of 'localhost' with the server's IP address.

    I am sure that this is less than ideal at this point.

    The question remains about why localhost is refusing the connections.

    Yeah I've got a similiar problem, roundcube isn't sending emails out, same errors in the log, firewall is off, and still the same issue.

    I had these kind of errors:
    [30-May-2009 12:06:24] Invalid response code received from server (-1):
    [30-May-2009 12:06:24] Invalid response code received from server (-1):
    [30-May-2009 12:06:24] Invalid response code received from server (-1):
    [30-May-2009 12:06:24 +0100] SMTP Error: SMTP error: Authentication failure: Invalid response code received from server (Code: -1)

    I ran this command and it solved my problems:

    /scripts/makecpphp

    Have fun.
