Spamassassin causing zombie Exim processes

I've been trying to track down an issue with spamassassin on our server. Without Spamassassin enabled, emails come and go perfectly. When I enable spamassassin, messages get stuck in the mail queue and I see all kinds of zombie exim processess. Sending email works fine.

I have reinstalled exim (per server host tech's advice) and spamassassin as well. I'm not sure what else to do . I'm rather new to this since our previous admin left and it got put on my plate.
