Thank you cPanel for fixing. It was becoming a pain to have to manually change sqmail config file after every update.
    thank you.

If you are still having issues with this problem. Try running the SMTP Tweak in Security >> Security Center of WHM to reset the ip tables rules.

    Problem popped up again.
config set to false again, after latest update.

Dave, is it now supposed to be 'false', and we now tweak the security settings?

It is likely related to an iptables rule used to deny connections from those other than exim, mailman and root. Turning the SMTP Tweak on and then off should recreate this rule correctly.

Did the latest update turn the SMTP tweak Off?
Because I'm pretty sure I had it on before.

So, let's recap, since I'm gotten confused.

    First,
    • sqmail conf changed 'use sendmail'= true, to false.
    • This resulted in us, using SMTP Tweak, to manually change our sqmail conf each time we updated.
    • Then, a cpanel update finally 'fixed' the sqmail issue, changing it to work with cpanel_sendmail or something?
    • Then a cpanel update puts sqmail back to 'use sendmail'= false, AND it appears handle the sqmail problem by adjusting SMTP Tweak. BUT, it turned off SMTP Tweak without letting us know?

If I can get some clarification, that would be great. (yes, I saw something cryptic written in the changelog, not overly helpful)

    ahhhhh.
    found it.

    C18151 changelog:
Reverted Squirrelmail configuration to connect to localhost port 25
Changed SMTP Tweak to always allow localhost connections to port 25

Yea, you shouldn't see any changes to your config (i.e. SMTP tweak on/off) other than the allow for localhost. You may need to cycle the SMTP Tweak if it is still not working.

    Hi Dave,

    Okay, to recap:
If we had turned the SMTP Tweak "ON" which solved the squirrelmail send problem initially, can we now turn it "OFF" and squirrelmail will still send properly? Thanks.

You should not have a problem with the tweak set to "OFF".

    Did the update today:

    SQM stoped working :

    Connection timed out
Server replied: 110 Can't open SMTP stream.

Turned SMTP tweak on and of

    SQM:

    Connection timed out
Server replied: 110 Can't open SMTP stream.

So I have a question: does this mean that if I run CSF I will have to manualy update squirrelmail config each time I update the Cpanel (if you see previous posts there was a cpanel build when this worked perfectly)?

Same 110 issue reported here too. However I was able to fix it by changing CSF's SMTP_BLOCK = 0

Horde is also not working (Failed to connect to localhost:25), anyone knows what to change in config to make it work again ?

Making that option to 0 in firewall opens security issues if I'm not wrong.

We have numerous reports of this problem and have had for a while now. I was hoping to see a fix in the RELEASE builds by now but it does not seem to be the case.

We need the SMTP block to be enabled because some RBL like the Nazi's at Outblaze will null route an server that does not have this either in CSF of WHM, but in the current state, enabling it in WHM breaks CSF and enabling it with CSF breaks Squirrelmail.

So am I right in saying there is no fix available in RELEASE yet?

Are we still supposed to be opening tickets?
