Strange IMAP Syncing problem?

Ok, this has to be the WEIRDEST IMAP issue I've seen.

I've got a Treo w/ Outlook running IMAP on other non-cpanel servers, and it works beautifully. Delete emails deletes them off server, just like a typical IMAP functionality.

For some STRANGE reason any domain I setup on my Treo that is hosted on a cPanel server works strange. For example, all of the emails are downloaded, BUT If I click on the email and mark it as read it does not mark it as read on the cPanel server. Same applies to deleting, moving, etc, etc.


This is NOT the setup on my Treo because I've got other non-cpanel servers working flawlessly. Any ideas as to the courier-imap protocol cPanel uses? Anybody encounter any strange issues as described above?

I use IMAP every day on a cPanel-powered server, and I've never encountered this particular issue. One thing I recommend though is setting your IMAP-Prefix to "INBOX" in your mail client. That tends to resolve issues in mail clients when dealing with IMAP.

I'm curious if anyone has thoughts on making some tweaks to resolve this issue? I've used IMAP on my Treo for over a year and everything has worked as I expect.

I can however confirm that after migrating my personal server from mbox to maildir, I have this same issue. I can no longer delete emails and have the change reflected on the server. If I were to delete email on the phone, the next time I check my email on the Treo via IMAP, all email is downloaded once again.

I would imagine it's just an IMAP server tweak, just nothing I've ever ran into before.

Anyone have thoughts on this?
