Default Unable to send mail, 435 unable to auth

    Hello,

I've been struggling with mail issues on my linux VPS with cPanel......

I am not using local DNS servers, I am using dns at everydns.net.

I was recently unable to both send and receive, I am now able to recieve after adding my domain to /etc/resolv.conf after getting a "lowest MX pointing to local host" or similar...

I still cannot send out email....

    I get the following error:

2008-06-02 11:56:13 fixed_login authenticator failed for localhost [127.0.0.1]: 435 Unable to authenticate at present (set_id=mdikun@mikedikun.com): Undefined subroutine &main::checkuserpass called.

    Can anybody help?

    Mike

Have you tried a re-install of Exim (/scripts/eximup --force) or reset the exim conf to defaults in WHM?

What version of PERL are you running? 5.8.8?
    perl -v

Search the forum for "checkuserpass called" You may find a few useful threads.

On every message? Have you tried outbound to multiple domains? Just curious, are you trying to email to a yahoo.com account?

    Post a tail of /var/log/exim_mainlog

ya, I am able to send to gmail and my other domains on another server

I searched for that message and it seems yahoo are a-holes and make you jump through hoops to get your server accepted...

honestly, if the major mail providers are gonna randomly block your messages, why not just setup your mailboxes with google business mail?

that's what i'm thinking of doing, especially if mails aren't going to be received by some people (yahoo users and others?)

Perhaps it was related with the mailbox permission....
