Will mbox to maildir conversion affect previous maildir setup?

Hi

I think I had a maildir setup before, as all my files were seperate folders and I had cur, new and all that.

Earlier for some bizarre reason, my IMAP mail all messed up and all the email files are showing as folders, and I can see new mail received is stored in an "inbox" file. So I think it looks like my server is now mbox. Have no idea how this could happen, my server company have gone quiet and dont seem to be able to explain or fix it.

So all my old email is still in the folders, I can see them. So my question is if I run the conversion script from mbox to maildir, will it affect the currenct folders and files there from previous maildir? I am hoping I can run the script and they will all magically come back.

This is the script I was to run but am scared:-
/scripts/convert2maildir

Server Admins ran the command and it all went back to normal.

We are all pretty stumped as to why it changed to mbox from maildir though.
