cPanel and WHM cannot be installed on a production web server; you must use a server with a freshly installed operating system.

No, but what you could do is setup a VPS and have one for cPanel and one for DA. If you did something like that I would suggest using openvz

Ok so what you thing would be the best and quickest way to implement it on our existing system? CentOS 64bit (any other configurations I can send you too if you just tell me that you require). Thank you very much!

Use openvz, create a VPS and put DA within the vps.

    Lightbulb

Out of pure curiosity, why would you want both Cpanel and Direct Admin?

(And the next obvious question .. Are you trying to migrate to Cpanel?)

As for the later question, the easiest way to migrate would indeed be
launching a new server with Cpanel and making the conversions when
the sites are transferred but short of that, you could also backup
the sites from the Direct Admin configuration, rebuild the existing
server with Cpanel, and then migrate the backed up accounts into
the new Cpanel configuration (been there, done that )

The suggested VPS configuration would work to as an intermediary option
provided your current server has enough memory to support a VPS split
configuration and you are comfortable with modifying and recomping
the main OS kernel on your server.

Because it would be very interesting and we would like to offer for our clients a possibility to choose from two control panels.
No I'm not trying to migrate to Cpanel.

Thank you for answering about openvz

You'll definitely need either a separate physical or virtual box, they're going to conflict if installed together. The VPS solution is probably the quickest and easiest, but make sure you have appropriate underlying hardware to handle the load.

Only virtual private server technology will help here. That too, you cannot run the both control panels on a same vps.

    Exclamation

The bottom line and answer to your main question is "NO"!

You cannot run multiple control panel systems on the same machine!

You will need multiple servers and that is the bottom line!

Now those multiple servers could be physical with separate physical hardware boxes or it could be virtual with VPS technology where you take one single physical machine and split it down into virtual machines each running their own operating system and software environments but you will need multiple "servers" any way you cut it whether those be physical or virtual!
