Backup File Names

Has cpanel changed how it names the backup files?

The ones on my desktop ive downloaded in the past are named after the date they are backed up on and the user account. Example...

backup-2.22.2009_16-55-44_reseller-name.tar.gz

The ones my server did today are simply named after the account name. Example...

reseller.tar.gz

I guess my question is, is this normal these days or is their a setting Im missing that allows me to adjust how the backup files are named?

Id prefer they have the dates included as its easier for me and any tech involved in helping me restore an account to figure out when a backup was made.

Also, with the same names wouldn't they be overwriting each other? I'd like a library of old backups to choose from in case mine are found to be corrupted and unusable, again.

In the beginning of your post, you are referring to the Full Web Site Backup feature in the cPanel interface. Later in your post, you reference the automatic server backups. These are two different features that result in different file names.

With server backups, you can find when it was made by doing a ls -l at the command line. The weekly, daily and monthly backups are stored in different directories so today's daily backup doesn't override the weekly backup if it is not supposed to do so.

So with a weekly backup, this weeks overwrites last weeks?
With daily, todays overwrites yesterdays?

With daily backups, today's backup overwrites yesterday's backup.

When the weekly backup is a week old, the old backup is replaced with today's backup.
