CHMOD 000 Hacked

Hello all,

I believe my website recently got hacked, my chmod for public_html was 000.
I have access to the reseller account with WHM. How would I change this back, and other precautions I should take to avoid such a thing in the future?

Are you just a reseller (noting your post) or the server administrator?

IE: Do you have root access to look into this further?

No, i don't believe I have server access. Is there a way to get my website up, before checking for errors, or at least taking a backup of the site? Thanks.

Without root access, I don't think you can find the root cause of the hack from your end. I suggest you to contact your host as soon as possible.

You can change the file/folder permissions from cPanel File manager.

Thanks for the reply. When I attempt to change from 000 to something, in this case, 777, I get the following error in an alert box:

FileOp Failure on: /home/svyt/public_html: Operation not permitted

It's possible to change mode to 000 using a FTP client but you cannot set it back. The message you received is just fine. Try to change it back from cPanel file manager or ask your hosting provider to help.

You can't change the 000 permission to 777 by using your cPanel user login.To change the 000 to 777 permission you need root login details.If you are not having root login details then its better if you contact your domain hosting provider and ask them to change the permission as per your requirement and check if really your account hacked or your hosting account provider disabled the public_html folder for your account due to few issues like abuse,server load etc....
