Failed Backups

Is anyone else seeing failed backups on reseller accounts? Just an account that is a reseller not anyone else. You get emailed this when it's completed:

--------------------------------------------------------
pkgacct started.
pkgacct version 8.3 - user : reselleruser - archive version: 3 - running with uid 0 Copying Reseller Config...--------------------------------------------------------

In the error_log you get:

2009-07-01 16:16:37 info [mysqladmin] Not updating privileges for reselleruser (reseller login and no password specified in ~/.my.cnf)

This happens a view times but thats about it. In the backup page you get:

backup-6.29.2009_20-49-55_reselleruser.tar.gz (Mon Jun 29 20:49:55 2009) [failed, timeout]

Any idea's? It might be one of those make a support ticket but figured I'd ask first.

Update the .my.cnf file for them and see if it still shows that error.

Well I'm wondering what would you even put in there? It also does it for other users and I don't think it's fatal in their case. It seems to die at reseller privileges on the backup. I've seen where it cannot restore and crashes on reseller privileges but never the backup.

The mysqladmin informational message is a red herring.

How is this backup being initiated? Via the cPanel interface? Is it being sent to a remote system?

It's being done via the cPanel interface. Maybe I should submit a ticket about it I just was curious if anyone else had experienced it and had a solution.

Same problem.

The pkgacct script stop on:

Copying Reseller Config...

See:

pkgacct started.
pkgacct version 8.3 - user : LOGIN - archive version: 3 - running with uid 0
Copying Reseller Config...--------------------------------------------------------

You can use the command line to make a backup still. I talked to support they did not know why and suggested just remaking the account. I ended it there as I think that's not a good solution to a bug.

My apologies for that. If you are still willing would you mind either reopening the ticket, or opening a new one? Mark the ticket ATTN: QA Backups failing

Granted, QA doesn't work on the weekend so we may not be able to address the ticket until Monday, however I would like us to discover why this is happening. We are unable to replicate this in our testing environment which suggests a variance between your server(s) and our testing environment. If we can identify that variance it should help toward resolution.

Submitting a ticket allows us to login to your server to determine specifically what is causing this issue. It is difficult to accurately diagnose what issue, of the many possible causes (e.g. hard disk in read-only mode, for just one example), is causing this situation without actually logging into the server. Additionally, if our technical analysts and QA team see a trend with a specific cause becoming common among servers, we may be able to modify our software to compensate for such issues.

If you are experiencing the same issue mentioned in this thread, you may wish to submit a support ticket so we can see what is causing this issue on your specific server(s).

You can submit a support ticket at: http://tickets.cPanel.net/submit
