Default Fastest way to recover from a crash?

    Hi everyone!

We have 5 severs with cpanel on it and we are searching for the fastest way to be up and running as fast as possible...

As i already found some solutions but im not sure how to integrate some in our infrastructure (to be short we don't know which solution to chose)

I've heard of R1soft, OpenVZ and VMware ESXi

-R1soft look like an easy solution but don't recover fast on another server unless it have "similar specs"

-OpenVZ look like a good solution but i don't know how to migrate a live server without taking it down..

-VMware ESXi look like another good solution as it don't need any "os" to run it but look also hard to implement on a live server....

Note that i don't have physical access to the servers so this complicate the stuff even further.. Also i'm open to any kind of suggestion

    Thank you!

I am not following your question ...

You say you have had some sort of crash from which you are trying to recover and then you are asking about VM technology?

I'm not making the connection here.

Exactly what has happened and what are you trying to do specifically?

Actually nothing happened... None of our server have crashed.....

I'm looking for a solution in case we have a crash not because one server have crashed (if it was the case i would not posting in the forum but issuing a support ticket instead)

Anyway you get the point? And because we have shoutcast radio stations on most of our server we need it up and running ASAP

    Thanks!

    cPanel/Enkompass Access Level

    Default

linux-ha failover -- a tool to let another server take over if one goes down

drbd - a real time file replication

rsync to keep data updated, delayed versus drbd

    mysql replication

There are a lot of options out there, those technologies could help. You could also use a VPS so you can have multiple servers failover to a single VPS. That way you only need 1 backup box to service all of your servers. -

Ok that sound like good solutions but im looking for something that is also easy to configure and use so wich one should i choose and what is the best way to migrate/set it up...

i will try R1soft as soon as i can have a test server running and see what it give....
