Default How to backup and restore a user's password?

I've recently had trouble with roundcube email which necessitated the deletion and recreation of a user email account.

While cPanel techs assisted me with the work, I am not certain how they managed to retain the user's password in restoring the individual email user account.

Can anyone in this forum provide guidance on how to backup and restore a user account (email particularly) while maintaining the user's password?

User email passwords are stored in the shadow file in the account's etc directory. Look for a directory named after the domain, and all should be fairly obvious from there.
