    Default Mail problem after restore?

I did a restore yesterday for an account.

Is it possible, that after a restore, a client could have email-problems.
The client had problems to retrieve his mail via Outlook (pop3/imap).

After he recreated the account in Outlook the problem was solved.
Has this anything to do with the restore/webserver, or is it for sure a problem of the client?

It should not have created the problem. Prehaps the client changed the password between the last backup and the site you replaced with the backup.

It is possible that the pointers will get messed up in outlook when an email account is removed and then recreated, and typically what they did is the correct solution, to remove and read the account.

I disagree, reinstalling a cPanel email account cannot affect the Outlook settings. Only iof something on the server changed, IP address, domain name, password, email address etc... Maybe while the account was being restored they got temporarily blocked by a firewall such as CSF. Something else was the issue. The only pointers in Outlook would deal with email that is downloaded and not deleted from the server, which would reset if the queue was cleared. The problem is that without a screen shot of the before and after settings there is really no way to know. We have reset some of our personal email accounts for different computers all running Outlook or Outlook Express over the last few year and never had to reset the settings in Outlook.
