Default One account backup has zero file size...

The backups are working fine except for just one account. The backup runs as normal, the archive for the user is created and the date and time on the file is correct - but the archive has a file size of 0. This is the same for all three backups for this one account.

Any ideas on what might cause this or how it can be fixed? Unfortunately this customer accidentally deleted a load of stuff and asked us to restore - he wasnt very happy at all when I told him his backup wasnt working.

No indication of problems in the backup log?

Does this also happen when initiating the backup manually?

Perhaps the account is over quota?

I have this same issue. I looked at the backup log and seen this:

    Creating Archive ....
gzip: stdout: No space left on device
    Done

Now this account has unlimited space available on the drive, but the database is filling almost 90% of the var directory.

Is this why it is saying this, does the var directory have to have double the space in order to backup the DB as well?

    Thanks

I've had this issue before but not exactly the same situation (Space)

it happens when i restore a backup of an account using one of the daily weekly monthly local backups through WHM

    after restoring the backup
it seems that cPanel extracts the archive in a folder with the same name of the account name ,, then restores the files from that archive without deleting them afterwards

    so after a restore
    /backup/cpbackup/daily/user < is there
/backup/cpbackup/daily/user.tar.gz < is there and good

the next day when the backup finishes
    /backup/cpbackup/daily/user < is there
    /backup/cpbackup/daily/user.tar.gz < is there but 0 bytes

i solve this issue by manually deleting both the tar and the directory for that user and wait for cpanel to take another backup the next day

This particular scenario is resolved in cPanel 11.24.
