Default Only tar backups - new feature cpanel 11.25

As stated in the 11.25 releasenotes:

Bug #4090: []Invalid Bug ID Added the ability for the /scripts/pkgacct
utility to only tar accounts, rather than taring and compressing, via gzip. This option reduces the CPU
load and overall time required to generate a full backup, with the trade-off of consuming more disk space.
How do I do this? Have just updated to 11.25 but can't find an option to disbale gzip and use tar only.

It's the Compress Account Backups option the Configure Backup interface.

    Hi,

When looking to restore an account from "uncompressed/tar" backups, none of the accounts appear in under WHM > Backup > Restore Backups

Why is this? And what is the correct way to restore .tar backups please?

    Regards,
    Suhail.

It is an oversight. I've notified the developers so this can be fixed.

You can use /scripts/restorepkg to restore these.

Exclamation BACKUPS BUG not yet OK

The cpanel backups have a bug, i've reported that, and i was told that in this last release the system would be fixed.

After the last release, it's still no resolved. It's the option in backups that says:

    "Compress Account Backups"

When we disable this option, the system, make backups in the format "user.tar" instead of "user.tar.gz". This makes less load on the server when backups are running.
Well, the problem is, when we try to RESTORE a backup, it's always TOTALLY EMPTY!!! The backups are on the disk, but cpanel don't show NOTHING on the restore option.

I've reported this before, but, it's still not fixed in this last release, like i've been told.

Can you guys tell me, the data for this option to be fixed?

When doing incremental backups is it still possible to tar the files?
Is it sufficient then to disable 'compress account backups' ?

Please note that incremental backups do not compress account backups; however, it is possible to setup a custom script that handles creation of tar archives using a script hook such as "postcpbackup" as detailed in the following documentation: cPanel/WHM Script Hooks
