Really bad problem
Hello,
The apache server on my server was remove by mistake and there was no way for me to restore it. By the recommendation of my hosting company I did reprovision to the server. But before doing so I made a backup of my files using cpanel and also manual. Now I have many files in the daily/files and daily/dir folders like: _etc_group.gz _etc_passwd.gz _etc_named.conf.gz ... I have two problems 1- I don't know how to restore these files and where? 2- I can't find any file for my users. I'm using cpanel whm 11.24.2. I've made manual copy of the whole home folder (All users folders are store in home) and the databases. The other problem here is that I don't know if I restored these files (by untaring them) how I can let the whm know about them. Please help, I really in a very bad situation with my clients. Thanks. -Max |

The archives seem to be of the format directory_file, so: _etc_group.gz -> becomes /etc/group _etc_passwd.gz -> becomes /etc/passwd _etc_named.conf.gz -> becomes /etc/named.conf However, if you've created accounts on this new installation already, it may not be a great idea to restore these files yourself.
