Restore Full cPanel Backup
I created a full cPanel backup so I can move the entire account to a new server. I uploaded it to the home directory and than in WHM I restored the file; however, the site itself did not get put back online. Is there something I am missing or doing wrong?

Did you go to the registrar of that domain whose account you transferred and change the nameservers to your server's nameservers?

Allow at least 24 hours for propagation if you just changed the dns.
Also check to make sure other domains on the server are working. You can also do a dns test at a place like dnsreport to check for errors. |

The files within the backup were not being uploaded correctly to the server. I solved the issue by unzipping the full cPanel backup using winrar and going through the entire backup and uploading each file individually. I think that there may be a bug within cPanel that does not unzip the full cPanel backup when you restore it through WHM. cPanel may want to take a look and I believe there was another thread regarding this.
As a web hosting provider I understand name servers and propagation and the time frame it takes. Sorry if I was not specific and descibe the issue. I was really general but thanks for your responses. |

Probably here is the scenario,
If you are restoring the site from cPanel backup along with databases, email addresses, you will need to have full cPanel backup and restore backups using the restore a ' Full Backup/cpmove File' in WHM. However, if you restore "home" backup witinh cPanel, you will not have MySQL databases, email addresses, mailing lists, sub-domains and add-on domains. If in case the account is located on another server, you can use the transfer feature which creates full backup, transfers the backup to new server and then performs restoration. ![]() Well, that's something general, but might be of help. __________________ Dedicated Server Hosting | vps hosting |
