"Sorry, that domain is already setup (remove it from httpd.conf?)

Hi,

I tried to create an account (which I will transfer the domain across to), but it gives me the following error:

"Sorry, that domain is already setup (remove it from httpd.conf?)"

The account does not appear in "List Accounts", but I have previously created and then deleted the same account. Obviously the details were not removed from http.conf the first tiem.

How do I remove the errant data from httpd.conf?

To remove the domain information from the httpd.conf file, simply SSH into your server,
type: pico /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf
and then press: ctrl+w and type the domain name in and then hit enter.

In case your worried that i might be telling you the wrong thing here
pico is a editor for linux
ctrl+w does a search in pico for any text you type in.
its just like pressing alt+f in notepad to find text.

once you found the domain, delete the domain name and the VirtualHost information along with it.
then press ctrl+x and then hit, y
and then hit enter.
ctrl+x is to exit out of pico, y is to answer yes to saving the file
enter is to save to the file you just edited.

if your worried about doing anything wrong to your httpd.conf file, simply copy httpd.conf to your root directory: cp /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf /root
then if you do anything wrong in httpd.conf, you have a backup copy of it to replace.

just to add; after editing the httpd.conf; please restart httpd as root from shell using:

/etc/rc.d/init.d/httpd restart

or from your WHM.

else your deletion will not take effect.

Thanks to you both for your help. I don't have ssh access, though. I will ask the support staff to do this for me.
