Syntax to access password protected directory from address bar

Hi all,

I have a quick question I hope you can help me with.

I have a php script that initiates the complete backup option in cpanel. I would like to fire this script remotely from a scheduler program. My problem is that to do so, the script would be open to the public (and try hard hackers).

The obvious answer is to hide the script behind a protected folder. This would require a login, which would stop the scheduler.

Is there a way I can embed the user and password for the protected folder into a html address?

if its a passworded folder i believe you can use the same way as FTP in the URL like so...

http://usernameassword@webaddress.com/folder/
