Default 2GB filesize limit. How to overcome?

    Hi guys.

I have a 2.7 GB file that I wish to download over FTP.
Everytime I do that, I get 2GB filesize limit error.
    This is a Linux limitation.
I know that there is a way to download that to my system but how?
    Please enlighten.

The command I used it "wget ftp://111.222.333.444/somedir/somefile.tar.gz" for information.

    Thanks in advance.

I think you can use the split command and then use the cat to join them. Please check the corresponding man page.

That's probably more a limitation of wget, have you tried installing and using the very nifty ncftp:
    http://www.ncftp.com/ncftp/

Then again, if it's a restriction of the FTP server, you could try downloading over SSH using SFTP or SCP.

    Hi guys,

    Thank you.
After a lil investigation, it is indeed wget thats the culprit.
The author should patch it up to make it compatible with large files I think.

I used FTP to download without a problem.
    Thanks for the help!!!
