    Default 403 Error - Forbidden?

    Hi,

I just setup a new CPanel account, but it comes up with:

    Code:
    Forbidden
You don't have permission to access / on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

    Apache/1.3.33 Server at aliceislazy.com Port 80
It could be the settings not quite right?

There aren't any .htaccess files in that directory....

    Very strange...

All that means is that there is no index file in the public_html directory and directory indexing is turned off. Put an index file in there and it will show.

The simplest way of ensuring your public_html and user dir permissions are corect would be to run:

    /scripts/enablefileprotect

check the logs after the server is back. might be that the script was too heavy.

All that script does is fix file permissions. If your servers has crashed, or more likely hung, then either it's pure co-incidence (most lkely) or there's a looping bug in the script and you should report it. Did the server become unresponsive while it was running, or did it first complete? While it was running, did you try a simple ctrl-c?

Yeah.. it just wont work then..

Now its only when I create accounts in root where I get that problem.

If i do it with another account, theres no forbidden page.

Guess i'll just have to do it that way then
