404 error

I'm new to this control panel: I understood how to upload and decompress archives, the basic database management, and so I uploaded a CMS.

Now I can't understand how to run the installation: using other CP I just tiped the url of the directory of the CMS, but now it gives me a 404 if I try to do it: how can I run the installation page ?

It may be my host, but I never saw something like the Index Manager: what is it ?

The actual CMS package is in public_html/ (or another directory within public_html) correct?

Ahem, no, should it ?

Edit: done, I moved the directory to public_html and it worked. Is there something else I should know ?

public_html is where the data for your website goes. If it is outside public_html then it will not be able to be accessed via the Internet.
